Trisha Buller MIT shares her opinions professionally and personally about how it feels to totally loose ones hair on ITV This Morning today. Alopecia Areata is a condition that is usually triggered by stress or emotional upset, there are other forms of the condition including Alopecia Totalis (total loss of scalp hair) and Alopecia Universalis (loss of all body hair including the scalp).

For patients who attend my practice Shuna Hammocks Trichology for a consultation and subsequent treatments they are asked questions surrounding their medical history, nutritional status, requirement for blood analysis, lifestyle habits and cosmetic choices. Most important issue in my opinion is the stress or anxiety that most likely triggered the loss of hair, which can be up to 3 months before the patch(es) appear. In many cases it’s the patient’s hairdresser that notices the loss first and the understanding of actually having a patch can cause further hair to be lost.

Please read here for more information about how my clinic treats Alopecia Areata.

As mentioned several times, I am very sensitive to the fact any patient consulting me with (possibly) this condition may feel nervous and fearful or the prognosis, be rest assured though that myself and my team are very respectful and supportive to hold your hand through the process (and offer a cup of tea where it may help).

Please read here for an example of one of many successful hair regrowth stories, written by a patient who used to have several patches of Alopecia Areata.

If you have found any of the matters here discussed interesting or feel you would simply like a second opinion, please contact us to find out more. While there are few trichologists in practice, I genuinely feel everyone should consult one at some point. My excellent team and I can improve your hair in every way; guidance can be given on how to improve your hair cosmetically, without damaging the condition of the hair.
