TIMES HAVE CHANGED OVER THE YEARS OF HAIRDRESSING. I TRAINED IN THE 1980’S AND EVEN THOUGH WE WERE PERMING AND COLOURING HAIR TO THE EXTREME WE CERTAINLY DIDN’T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND PRODUCT RANGES THAT WE HAVE TO USE TODAY.
I THINK THE CONDITION OF OUR HAIR is a lot more important to our clients today as in years gone by. Probably because we have more of an insight to what’s bad for our hair scalp and skin, although this doesn’t stop us abusing our hair with heat, chemical processes and general styling. This is where a good hairdresser steps in with her / his advice and products to make sure the hair looks and feels good.
There are there are some really important factors to a heathy scalp and hair. Firstly Shuna Hammocks from Shuna Hammocks Trichology will always stand by her believes and education of washing and cleansing the scalp is good for the hair growth and condition. Her in depth knowledge is proof that a clean scalp, follicles and a massage helps stimulate the scalp.
The evolution of hair knowledge and hair products has progressed in such a way that our clients desire ultimate care and advice and are a lot more knowledgeable. Therefor as hairdressers and Trichologists we need to be able to give the perfect service. We now have the luxury of a wide range of shampoos, conditioners, styling products and hair tools.
Shampoos and conditioners are highly advanced and can cater to all needs IE cleans the scalps, dry ends, over processed, thinning, scalp conditions etc. The styling products now contain UV protector, heat protector, added moisturisers and natural oils which are essential with what we expect our hair to do for us these days.
There are now an abundance of hair tools; hair dryers, tongs, wands and irons. All do a degree of damage to the hair when used excessively. Our hair contains a huge percentage of water, every time a heat appliance is used, moisture is removed from the hair. Eventually when all moisture is removed and only protein remains the hair will snap and break. Due care must be taken and relevant styling products used to protect.
As professionals in our industry, Hairdressing / Trichologist we have an abundance of problems, aliments and requirements which are definitely growing in numbers from unhealthy lifestyles, bad diets, stress, misuse of products and tools which keep us busy and learning every day.
